Evidence-Based Treatment for Anxiety Disorders
-
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for a number of psychological conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, unhelpful perfectionism, OCD, PTSD, eating disorders, and more. CBT focuses on the inter-relationship between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. In CBT, the focus is on identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviour and replacing them with more helpful thoughts and behaviours. CBT often involves psychoeducation, symptom tracking, practical skills development (e.g., problem solving training, thinking skills), hierarchy construction, exposures or behavioural experiments, homework assignments, and relapse prevention.
