Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety Disorders
Have you been to therapy before? Did you leave sessions feeling relieved only for the anxiety to return week after week, never really feeling like you were getting better and the progress you hoped for never seemed to come? Or maybe you saw a therapist who didn't really understand you or know how to help?
Did previous therapy feel aimless or unstructured? Did you feel like your therapy lacked direction or that the therapist lacked insight and wanted you to lead the session without much input or guidance? Did you do most of the talking? Were you taught relaxation/breathing exercises or other “coping skills” to get rid of your anxious thoughts and feelings, but they would always come back?
I treat the following anxiety disorders:
Panic Disorder
Agoraphobia
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Social Anxiety Disorder
Phobias (including blood, injections, and emetophobia)
I also treat the following somatic symptom and related disorders:
Illness Anxiety Disorder
Somatic Symptom Disorder
I don't do talk therapy or teach "coping skills" for anxiety disorders (they aren't effective long-term if you have OCD or an anxiety disorder!). I will validate you, try to compassionately understand your experience, teach you concrete and practical strategies, take the lead in session AND create a personalized clinical treatment plan for you based on current evidence-based treatment for your condition.
My focus will be on reducing your symptoms that are making you feel miserable and bringing you long-term relief and peace. You won't get any nonsense treatment from me, just treatment that has shown to be most effective for your condition (if you have GAD, panic disorder, agoraphobia, or social anxiety that's CBT).You won’t have to guess what we’re doing in session, how it will help, or how it connects to your treatment goals - it will be clear because I will be honest and transparent with you every step of the way. Treatment sessions will be structured, guided by an agenda that you and I will collaborate on based on your treatment goals, focused on long-term symptom reduction, and evidence-based with a clear plan and direction forward.
